Stories

No matter what our circumstances, we are all human and we all have the capacity for positive growth through overcoming the challenges we face.

Each one of us has a story to tell, and has the right to make our voice heard. And there has never been a better time.

Youssef’s Story

11-year-old Youssef Soufi lives in Aleppo, Syria and he dreams of being a computer engineer. He was born with a rare musculoskeletal disorder and cannot walk. With no elevator and frequent power cuts to his apartment building, it is getting harder for his brothers to carry him up and down the stairs to school.

Youssef’s dreams depend on his receiving corrective surgery before he is too old for it to be effective, and that window is closing fast. Now is the time to tell his story – to advocate for him and his family, and let the world know that the difference between reaching one’s dreams and being held back, is often tied to poverty and geography. It is time to let the world know that we can make a difference with a little money and a little time – that if Youssef’s story can reach the world, anything is possible.
